26 August 2010

A glorious ‘spring’ day – fifth in a row.  Perfect for strolling in the sun to see what daffodils are flowering.  Still very early season for South Otago though so I’m making the most of it.

Left  – down in the paddock good old February Gold was the first to flower.  A few days later Peeping Tom is once again delighting me (centre left).  I adore its long, narrow trumpet and slim waist.  Both are division 6, cyclamineus.  At centre right is Jumblie flowering in the mini bed.  Towai is flowering in the mini bed (far right).

Little Gem flowering in a tub with intensely fragrant Boronia megastigma ‘Lutea’ – a gorgeous boronia I haven’t managed to kill yet! Centre is another pic of Peeping Tom.  Right - one of the many self seeded winter roses (Helleborus)

2 September 2010

In the space of half an hour, the sun has disappeared and the good old Waitepeka wind has got up – fit to blow the spots of your giraffe!  Perhaps the weather man is right – predicting hail and snow in the next couple of days.  Quick dash round the garden and paddock to take some pics.
